Há uns largos meses que notámos que de vez em quando o G do nada deixava de reconhecer as pessoas. Que se a pessoa não fosse alguém com quem ele convivesse todos os dias, ele acabava por a deixar de reconhecer e quando a via tinha uma reação reativa. Também reparámos que as reações eram piores se a pessoa olhasse fixamente para ele ao entrar na divisão da casa onde ele estava, por exemplo. São episódios um quanto ao tanto estranhos e sem nenhuma explicação lógica, na minha perspetiva pois ele não costuma ter uma reação tão drástica quando passeamos na rua e passam pessoas por nós. Aliás, a maioria das vezes ele já não reage quando passamos por pessoas (ou vice-versa) a menos que seja alguém com um aspeto mais estranho e com um odor a álcool ou tabaco muito forte. Mas também vamos censurá-lo por ter esta reação com pessoas alcoolizadas e com um aspeto meio estranho? Se nem eu me sinto muito confortável quando esses encontros acontecem porque tenho de exigir que o meu cão se sinta?

Estes episódios têm sido mais recorrentes ultimamente, pois até connosco ele faz isto se por exemplo ele estiver a dormir e nós o assustarmos sem querer ou se um de nós não estiver com ele durante alguns meses devido ao trabalho, quando regressa a casa se entrar sem falar ele tem esta reação. Mas regra geral se as pessoas entrarem na divisória a falar, mesmo que seja alguém que ele não vê há muito tempo não há uma reação da parte dele. O que nos leva a questionar se ele não reconhece de todo as pessoas e por isso é que reage assim, ou se ele se sente ameaçado por alguém entrar em silêncio. Por norma se a pessoa não fixar o olhar nele enquanto entra calada na divisão onde ele está também não há reação.

Ainda não tivemos oportunidade para ver junto de um veterinário esta situação de ele deixar de reconhecer as pessoas sem razão de ser e agora com toda esta situação do covid-19 muito menos. Por isso, por enquanto vamos gerindo o ambiente e as pessoas na nossa vida de maneira a evitar o máximo possível que situações desta ocorram. Assim que pudermos iremos tentar perceber esta situação mais a fundo. Desejem-nos sorte ahah! A few months ago we noticed that from time to time G would, out of nowhere, failed to recognize people. If the person wasn't someone with whom he saw on a daily basis, he would ended up failing to recognize he / she so he would react to the person. I've noticed that the reactions were worse if the person stared at him when entering the room where he was, for example. These are indeed strange episodes and without any logical explanation, at least from my perspective, because he doesn't usually have such a drastic reaction when we walk down the street and people pass by us. In fact, most of the time he no longer reacts when we pass people (or vice versa) unless it's someone with a stranger appearance and with a strong alcohol or tobacco odor. But are we really going to blame him for having this reaction with people who are drunk and look a little strange? If I don't even feel very comfortable when these meetings take place, why do I have to demand that my dog ​​feels ok with it?

These episodes have been more recurrent lately, since now sometimes they happen even with us if, for example, he is sleeping and we startle him by accident or if one of us is not with him for a few months due to work, when we return home if we enter without talking he has this reaction. But as a general rule if people enter in the room talking, even if it is someone he hasn't seen for a long time, there is no reaction on his part. Which leads us to question whether he doesn't recognize people at all and that's why he reacts this way, or if he feels threatened by someone going into silence. As a rule, if the person does not stare at him while entering the room where he is, there is also no reaction.

We haven't yet had the opportunity to see with a veterinarian this situation of him failing to recognize people without reason and now with all this situation of covid-19 much less. Therefore, for the time being we are managing the environment and the people in our life in order to avoid as much as possible that this situations occur. As soon as we can we will try to understand this situation more deeply. Wish us luck ahah!
